Building a YA Library, Part II
Alright, so presumably by now you’ve had time to read all the classic YA books I listed in the first part of this blog post series. I mean, it’s been a while, right? No? You didn’t? It’s okay. There’s a lot of YA out there. In fact, this is a seriously prolific genre. It’s not the romance genre, but there’s still a TON of great literature targeted at young adults, and it’s been like that since the advent of Twilight and Harry Potter. So let’s suppose you at least skimmed through my post on Classic YA novels, and you want to move on. Well, good news! YA blew up in…
Building a YA Library, Part I
I could, and will at some point, devote an entire blog entry to why I think young adult literature is wildly underrated by those who believe that anything written for a target audience 18 and under cannot possibly have the depth or sophistication that a book written for a mature audience could have. This is an uneducated perspective, and, in my humble opinion, a major mistake. But for my first substantive blog post on this subject, what I want to do is show not tell. Shooting Star
When Aether Orbital Station must deport twenty-thousand people – including five-thousand children – Doctor Sammy J. Ecoe advocates for the Deportation Selection Program, an objective physical and mental health screening meant to impartially choose children for deportation. But when Doctor Ecoe’s own son fails the screening test, will the doctor’s commitment to do what is right for Aether prevail?
And we’re live!
Welcome to my new website! After a serious change of web hosting heart, my new WordPress-powered website is live, and this is it! Another website I designed (with the help of a dandy WordPress theme), and now my job is to come up with a blog for it. Well, maybe not tonight. But in the future, you can expect blogs, vlogs, story archives, and all kinds of fun stuff to pop up on this website. Oooh, maybe I’ll even create some pop-ups. For now…this is what I’ve got. I don’t think it’s half-bad.
